seeing the light

It is a beautiful building. Kate and I were there last year and this was one of our highlights.
Did you also know that the building is designed so that a perfect sphere could fit in it, filling the roof space and just touching the floor. Amazing piece of architecture!

Great to see you back blogging again Brian, and for adding to my cultural education too. I've never been to Rome, and I'm ashamed to admit I didn't know The Pantheon was an actual building in Rome- I'd always made the connection just with the vast array of Graeco-roman gods.
Perhaps by extension, a lot more churches in the West today should be opening up our buildings to let the light shine OUT as well as in, to show that God has revealed his light to the World. Sure, stone is warm and permanent, but what does it tell you about what goes on inside? Whereas the glass corporate citadels that mock so many of God's ways while Mammon flourishes tell us everything about society's priorities today. But Stained Glass and clear church glass tell a different story.
